MISSION
To empower girls to become leaders in their communities by providing them with resources and access to mentors early on in their education.
VISION
We seek to nurture the gifts and talents of girls to help them reach their potential. By focusing on encouraging the practice of self-determination in life choices and career goals, HGEF aims to facilitate their accomplishments towards realizing their visions for themselves.
STRATEGY
HGEF empowers girls in Ethiopia by raising funds globally. Funds go towards purchasing school supplies such as: uniforms, sports gear, supplemental books, and other items determined by each girl's specified needs. In doing so, HGEF seeks to decrease financial stressors on families and caretakers in order to redirect attention towards supporting the girls in the pursuit of their professional and personal endeavors.
PILOT
HGEF will be conducting a pilot project during the 2020-2021 school year in a small village called Goro, which is near Wolisso (a town 75 miles southwest from the capital of Ethiopian, Addis Ababa). The first round of students to participate during this pilot phase will be 10 girls selected by our local liaisons and partners at Goro Elementary School.
SELECTION PROCESS
Candidates for HGEF aid programs are selected by our local representatives, Goro District Women and Children Social Services agents, and our partners at Goro Elementary School. Selection is based on the economic need and talent of each girl considered.
